They’re the ‘old married couple’ of Married At First Sight (MAFS), but Carina and Paul’s relationship has been thrown into a concerning spotlight recently, after it was revealed that the bride’s past connection to a certain rapper had thrown Paul into a jealous rage.
Although Carina doesn’t name a rapper, New Idea reports she’s been linked to Drake, and was recently seen leaving his concert in Perth. The pair also previously met at a party.
Responding to a highly troubling incident that occurred after Paul punched a wall in response to an argument that arose because of the alleged connection, the show’s experts have placed the groom “on notice” for the foreseeable future.
At the couple’s most recent commitment ceremony it was clear that the experts weren’t accepting excuses for his behaviour, and after Carina jumped in to defend her groom, Paul doubled down.
“This is toxic, inappropriate and unacceptable behaviour that you must see now,” he said. “Frankly, I don’t feel very good about this. I want you to tell us why the three experts should not kick you out of the experiment right now.”
Despite the tough conversations and the experts’ warnings, the two chose to remain in the experiment.
So what does this mean for the previously content couple? The current status of Carina and Paul’s relationship isn’t known, but there has been evidence for both a split and a positive ending.
Are Carina and Paul Still A Couple?
Carina and Paul’s MAFS journey began with a speedbump, after it was revealed the two had previously dated in real life-and that Paul had dated Carina—and ghosted her.
Fortunately, Paul decided to face up to his past indiscretion, which was well-enough received by his bride that the couple made a pact to move on with a fresh start. After all, they do say that everything happens for a reason, so it’s not inconceivable that their false start might’ve actually been a case of ‘right person, wrong time’ as Paul had put it. What’s this? A MAFS man showing genuine remorse and maturity? Unheard of!
It seems the viewers weren’t the only ones impressed with Paul’s personal growth, because it soon became clear that Carina was just as willing to give him a second shot as he was to earn it. What’s resulted for MAFS dream couple, Carina and Paul, is a match made in reality-tv heaven, and just like their love for one another, viewers can’t get enough.
These two have been diligently adhering to the terms of their lengthy MAFS contract, so at this stage we don’t officially know if Carina and Paul are still together. However, post-show rumblings have hinted at both the possibility of a happy ending or a break-up.
While the two have been seen hanging out after the series wrapped, Carina was noticeably absent from Paul’s 31st birthday, which was attended by other MAFS alum.
However, if their run on the show is anything to go by, there’s no denying these two have a palpable chemistry.
“I’m feeling very happy and in a love bubble,” gushed Carina during their honeymoon. “There was intimacy with Paul last night, twice,” she said, with Paul adding: “Let’s just say we are compatible. Fate has brought us back together, absolutely.”
During their second commitment ceremony, both Carina and Paul opted to remain in the experiment, citing the previous week’s intimacy challenge as an spark in the right direction for the couple.
“The things we did, I did not expect that!” Paul revealed to the experts, who responded with laughter at the groom’s honestly.
Adding fuel to the fire, Carina’s recent interview with Chattr certainly got MAFS fans talking. Speaking with the publication, Carina revealed that she’d been keeping out of the MAFS drama surrounding fellow contestants Sierah and Adrian, because,. well – she’s got more important things to focus on. Like what, you ask?
“To be fair, my phone is going off, and I’m just enjoying life with Paul and all the rest of the cast that are my friends,” she said.
When she was asked about the reality of their living arrangements, Carina was quick to sing Paul’s praises, revealing (unlike some others in the experiment) the two really did spend every day together.
“He definitely made it evident that he wasn’t just in the experiment, you know, throughout the week and then the weekend. We weren’t living separate lives. We incorporated everything that we enjoyed doing in the outside world while we were living in Sydney together,” she shared.
“I love, love living with him and it was just very easy, and I can guarantee you he will say the exact same thing.”
So folks, I think we have our answer… for now at least.
