Barry Keoghan and Sabrina Carpenter have reportedly called it quits, and rumours as to why (as well as many lyrical puns) have been flooding the internet since.
The news comes around one year after they began dating with sourced telling People the pair have decided to take a break.
“They are both young and career-focused, so they’ve decided to take a break,” the source says.
Of course, the rumour mill immediately went into overdrive and with fans believing the Please, Please, Please singer foreshadowed the demise of her own relationship. Neither Sabrina nor Barry have officially confirmed the split however, the Saltburn star has now spoken out about the online hate he’s received following the news.

A blind item titled “The cute boy with the thick accent proved them right” shared via Deuxmoi caused immediate speculation of cheating rumours following Barry and Sabrina’s split.
The piece reads: “This A-list singer who’s having her breakout year and her foreign actor boyfriend are done for good. On the closing night of her biggest tour date in LA, he was busy getting cozy at San Vincente Bungalows with a blonde, semi-famous, LA based influencer.”
Of course, this is unconfirmed hearsay. The item also goes on to say, said actor was caught “chatting with said influencer behind her back for months”.
Parallels were quickly being drawn with Sabrina’s famous line “I beg you, don’t embarrass me, mo*****ker” the film clip for which, Barry famously appeared in.
Sources have since debunked the rumours, revealing the split was amicable, “not contentous” and due to constant schedule clashes.”
“It’s been challenging for their relationship since Sabrina went on tour. Their schedules were not aligning, and all the time apart made it difficult to maintain a connection,” they told Us Weekly.
Barry Keoghan’s Statement
Barry recently took to X to share a statement, asking for people to “be respectful” following a barrage of hate towards not only him but his family. He didn’t confirm or address his split from Sabrina, but did detail some of the horrendous actions and words he’d experienced since the news broke.
“I can only sit and take so much. My name has been dragged across the internet in ways that I don’t usually respond to. I have to respond now because it’s getting to a place where there are too many lines being crossed,” he wrote.
He continued, “Absolute lies, hatred, disgusting commentary about my appearance, character, how I am as a parent, and every other inhumane thing you can imagine. Dragging my character and everything I worked extremely hard for and stand for.”
The 32-year-old then detailed some of the downright terrifying and abhorrent behaviour he and his family had been victims of since.
“Talking about how I was a heroin baby and how I grew up and dragging my dear mother into it also. Knocking on my grannies door,” he listed, before adding “Sitting outside my baby boys house intimidating them.”
