Sad news Kaia Gerber and Austin Butler fans, the couple have reportedly broken up.
The 23-year-old model was spotted over the New Year on a family trip to Mexico where Austin was notably absent. It was considered somewhat unusual given Austin had joined the family on holidays in the past, and now it may seem we have the answer as to why.
News of the split comes via TMZ from “direct sources” which claims “the couple ended their romantic relationship around the end of 2024.”
The outlet also claims there’s no “bad blood” between the former couple, instead it “ran its course after a good 3 years together.”
Split rumours began in recent months when once frequent public appearances became no more, with the couple last spotted together on October 5th in New York. Both stars have also recently been taking to red carpet events solo.
One month prior to this sighting, in September 2024, talk of a breakup sparked when Austin was notably absent from the Bottoms star’s birthday celebrations. Kaia posted a series of snaps from Disneyland, featuring close friends and no Austin, commemorating the day, captioning the post: “obviously spent my birthday at the most mature place on earth #disneyland”
Shortly after Kaia was also spotted at and photographed with SNL star Marcello Hernandez at a party.
Kaia and Austin first began dating 2021, a month after her confirmed split from fellow Australian heartthrob Jacob Elordi.
It didn’t take long for things to become serious between the pair who made their red carpet debut at the Met Gala in May of 2022.
Before meeting Austin, Kaia spoke to Vogue about her romantic past, specifically dating older men—possibly referencing her romance with Pete Davidson who was eight years older than her.
“I found myself in situations where I was, like, I actually don’t have the life experience that I need to handle this. You know, I was doing fashion month, but I was so young I had kissed, like, only one person. I had never had a high school sweetheart or anything,” she said at the time.
Austin was recently announced to play the next Patrick Bateman in the upcoming reimagining of American Psycho.
