Mindy Kaling’s ‘The Sex Lives Of College Girls’ Is Guaranteed To Be Your Next Binge-Watch

We're officially obsessed.

Every so often a new series comes along and manages to get us hooked on just one watch of a tantalisingly short trailer.

HBO Max series The Sex Lives Of College Girls did just that.

Given it’s the brain-child of Mindy Kaling, who so graciously gifted us The Mindy Project and Netflix’s Never Have I Ever, we knew following the initial announcement in October 2020 that we were in for something special.

Our feelings were further affirmed when teasers and trailers began to drop.

In the first look, we’re introduced to our four leading ladies while in bed after a big night out.

As someone’s alarm goes off in their dorm room, each roommate gets their chance to offer an equally hilarious, hungover monologue to find the sound and turn it off. And suddenly we’re having flashbacks to the Sunday mornings of our youth.

The mere title of the show, The Sex Lives Of College Girls, may evoke imagery of wild and raunchy tales of campus life and spring breaks, however, it is anything but.

Instead, it centres on four roommates at Essex College, a prestigious New England university, who are described as “equal parts lovable and infuriating”, navigating love, sex, family and friendships in all the authenticity and awkwardness of your early 20s.

Expect Mindy’s signature comedic spin met with equally profound and powerful female-centric moments.

The series stars Pauline Chalamet (yes, she’s of the same blessed gene pool), Amrit Kaur, Reneé Rapp, and Alyah Chanelle Scott in leading roles joined by Gavin Leatherwood of Chilling Adventures of Sabrina fame, James Morosini, Christopher Meyer and Colby James Strong.
