SAS Australia doesn’t attract the faint of heart—that much is very clear from a short glimpse of the show.
Based on the original Who Dares Wins series format, SAS pushes a selection of Australian celebrities to their limit as they mimic the physical and psychological tests from the real-life SAS selection process.
While there’s usually more than 15 contestants to start with, it’s not hard to see why many drop out as the season progresses. To start with, there’s treacherous races in every type of weather you can think of, helicopter jumps from eight metres high into ice cold water, and spontaneous psychological questions that force the competitors to face their darkest demons.
At the end, chief instructor Ant Middleton US Navy SEAL Clint Emerson and former British Special Forces soldier Dean Stott decide which of the remaining celebrities could realistically be selected for the SAS.
It’s faced paced, it’s confronting, and it teaches each participant important life lessons—which is why many of them choose to do it in the first place.
