Saltburn has all the makings of a cult film.
The film is not only Promising Young Woman director, Emerald Fennell’s, highly anticipated return to the big screen but also stars Euphoria heartthrob Jacob Elordi and is being produced by none other than Margot Robbie—and we haven’t even told you the plot yet.
Described as a “British tale of excess,” the film is a mystery centred on Oxford University students and a hedonistic aristocratic family. Think: The Talented Mr Ripley, Brideshead Revisited and Donna Tart’s The Secret History energy.

Who Is Directing Saltburn?
British actor and director, Emerald Fennell is writing, directing and producing Saltburn.
The film will be the British director’s return to the big screen after winning an Oscar in 2021 for her 2020 directorial debut, Promising Young Woman.
Interestingly, Fennell is also very familiar with the world she explores in Saltburn. Fennell happens to be the daughter of British jewellery designer Theo Fennell, who is a frequent guest at high society parties. Fennell also attended the prestigious Marlborough College, whose alumni include the Princess of Wales and Princess Eugenie.
It’s also safe to assume Fennell learned a thing or two playing the young Camilla Shand (now Queen Camilla) in two seasons of The Crown.
Who Is Cast In Saltburn?
26-year-old Brisbane native, Jacob Elordi, who is best known for his roles in Netflix’s Euphoria and The Kissing Booth, will take on the role of the charming aristocratic, Felix Catton.

The starring role will be played by 29-year-old Irish actor Barry Keoghan. Keoghan is best known for his roles in The Batman, Eternals and The Banshees of Inisherin.
Also joining the cast of Saltburn is Carey Mulligan (Promising Young Woman), Rosamund Pike (Gone Girl), Alison Oliver (Conversations with Friends), Richard E. Grant (Loki), Archie Madekwe (Midsommar), Sadie Soverall, Lolly Adefope and Ewan Mitchell.
Who Is Producing The Film?
Margot Robbie and Tom Ackerley’s production company, LuckyChap Entertainment, is producing the film. It’s also not the first time that Fennel has collaborated with Robbie, with Robbie’s company also producing Fennell’s first feature film, Promising Young Woman, and Fennell starring as the pregnant Midge in Barbie.
