Seeing celebrities looking fit and toned all the time can take a toll on our mental health, so it’s really refreshing when they get real about the realities of what it takes to look the way they do. The latest to address this? Salma Hayek, who spoke out after her recent holiday pics generated mass discussion.
Salma was interviewed by Entertainment Tonight about her recent swathe of bikini photos, which were seeing loads of responses from fans. She was quick to point out that she doesn’t just have a naturally fit body. “I had to lose a lot of weight and exercise to get into the bikini towards the end of last year,” she told the publication. She jokingly said that since the holiday, she “started eating again” as, like all of us, the home-bound nature of a global pandemic saw us all really getting into homemade lasagna and tiramisu. If you didn’t try to make tiramisu during lockdown, did you even lockdown?
While it’s worth remembering that celebrities often don’t have to work full-time jobs or wrangle kids as much as us regular folk do, it is nice to be reminded of the fact that maintaining a fit figure isn’t easy, and even those that seem to always look ridiculously toned are putting in major work to get to that place – and don’t always look the way they do on Instagram, as Salma was quick to point out.
Salma also added that if anyone was sick of her constant holiday pics, she wasn’t planning on stopping anytime soon. “I’m glad I took a lot of pictures, I have no shame on it, because it was the first week of the vacation,” she said. But, she added, “They’re going to think I’m wearing a bikini every day. No, they’re all from the same location.” Guys, Salma Hayek is not gallivanting around Turks & Caicos during America’s lockdown, FYI.
