Rita Ora has finally divulged more details about her top-secret Los Angeles wedding to Taika Waititi—including the dress she wore.
To celebrate their first wedding anniversary, the couple’s nuptials have been detailed in a Vogue profile, which reveals Ora wore a sheer white lace Tom Ford wedding dress.
“For my dress, I was looking for something that was going to feel unique and a bit unexpected, which is why I went for the one-shoulder and the lace,” Rita told Vogue.
“I saw this Tom Ford dress years ago and found it just before the wedding in my exact size. It can’t get much more meant-to-be than that.”
The profile also revealed that Rita wore her mum’s pearls and that her sister walked her down the aisle. The wedding was kept low-key, with just the couple’s family and “close friends” in attendance.
After the ceremony, the couple went to their friend, Guy Oseary’s house for a dinner party.
“He was so kind to host us at the last minute,” says Rita. “We got a group of people together, and we just had a great time!”
Ora only revealed that she and producer Taika Waititi tied the knot on an episode of The Tonight Show with Jimmy Fallon in February 2023, when she first showed off her engagement ring and wedding band.
After Fallon congratulated Ora on her nuptials, the singer flashed her impressive emerald engagement ring to the television host, stating “I haven’t actually shown anyone my ring, it’s my first time showing my ring and because I love you and I feel like you’re a part of our relationship…Look here it is.”
The engagement ring features a 10-carat emerald-cut Columbian green emerald in a halo setting.
At the time, Ora also revealed that she may have had something to do with the ring choice, telling Fallon: “You know what you want and I felt like I really knew I wanted to be with this person and I just wanted it to feel really right. So I may have taken him to the shop and pointed out exactly what ring I wanted.”
The ring reveal came just days after the singer confirmed that she and producer Taika Waititi were officially married.
Ora officially revealed the news on the Heart Breakfast Show, when 32-year-old Ora poked fun at the pair’s nuptials by confirming she was officially off the market.
During a segment to promote her matrimonial themed new single You Only Love Me, Ora was questioned by the hosts to confirm whether the wedding rumours were true, to which she replied: “Yes. Here we are”.
“They say everything happens for a reason. I am officially off the market, people,” she added.
Given that the on-again-off-again pair had sparked marriage rumours back in 2022 (a lifetime ago in Hollywood romances), we’re not only impressed with how long the pair managed to keep the news under wraps, but how nonchalantly the couple announced the news.
A hard launch without a tired-media strategy behind it? We love to see it.
However, given that Ora was promoting her new song and accompanying Bridezilla-themed music video, it was only natural for the news to come out sooner or later.
Speaking on the wedding, Ora shared that their big day was “completely how I wanted it”.
“It was just nice and perfect…It was really sweet. …Sorry, it’s not that interesting!”
Unlike most celebrity wedding extravaganza (looking at you Nicola and Brookyln Peltz Beckham), Rita and Taikia’s nuptials were anything but over the top.
“One day, we’ll throw a big party,” she added. “I’ll figure out the time to have a big, big party.”
If we were privy to those party planning conversations, we’d assume that Chris Hemsworth would be the master of ceremony and Tessa Thompson would be asked to give an amazing wedding speech—teasingly referencing that viral balcony ménage à trois, of course.
Congratulations to the happy couple!
