The countdown is well and truly on until Olivia Colman and Helena Bonham Carter grace our screens in season three of Netflix’s hit drama, The Crown. The British actresses will be taking over from Claire Foy and Vanessa Kirby as Queen Elizabeth II and Princess Margaret, continuing on the timeline of the British monarchy through the ’60s and ’70s.
Despite rumours that the real Queen of England is a fan of the show – and others that say Prince Harry and Meghan Markle don’t mind an evening cuddled up on the couch watching it – Colman took it upon herself to ask Prince William straight to his face whether he’s ever seen it, to which he sadly responded no.
During an appearance on The Graham Norton Show, Colman described speaking to the Duke of Cambridge at a dinner, saying, “It didn’t go very well.”

“I met Prince William at a dinner, and he asked what I was doing at the moment before he quickly added, ‘Actually, I know what you’re doing,'” she explained. “I was so excited and asked, ‘Have you watched it?’ His answer was a firm, ‘No.'”
Colman went on to say that despite Wills refusing to watch the (really good) show, “He was very charming and very lovely.”
Oh, and Helena Bonham Carter spoke to Princess Margaret’s ghost ahead of filming:
