There’s nothing quite like the escape of a good period drama. What with the perfect one-liners, unabashed (and unlikely) love stories and, perhaps most of all, the impeccable period wardrobes, there’s not much not to love about getting stuck into a soapy Victorian tale.
That’s why Persuasion, Netflix’s new film adaptation based on Jane Austin’s famous last novel set in the early 1800s has piqued our interest. To add to the hype, one of our all-time favourite actors, Dakota Johnson is headlining the film as the beloved main character, Anne Elliot.
Now that its release date is finally upon us, we’re ready for our next Bridgerton-esque easy-watch. Below, all the details about your next rainy-day film.

Per Deadline, Netflix’s adaptation of Anne is an “unconforming woman with modern sensibilities” as she is forced to choose between listening to her heart or putting the past behind her at Wentworth’s return.
Where was Persuasion filmed?
