For 24-time Grand Slam champion Novak Djokovic,  his tennis matches are often littered with a slew of celebrities. But amongst this array of famous faces is one permanent courtside fixture—his wife, Jelena Djokovic.

Whether they’re galivanting around the world for various tournaments or advocating for early childhood development and education as part of their charity, the Novak Djokovic Foundation, the athletic pair are defining what it means to be at the top of your game.

If you’ve spotted Jelena in the crowd during one of Novak’s matches, than you’ll know that she isn’t one to shy away from supporting her husband’s tennis career. In fact, you could argue that she’s the head of his fanbase the ‘Nolefam’. The Australian Open is no different.

Who Is Novak Djokovic’s Wife, Jelena Djokovic?

Jelena Djokovic is a Serbian humanitarian and businesswoman. Born in Belgrade in 1986, Djokovic is currently the global CEO of the Novak Djokovic Foundation (NDF), a charity she co-founded with her husband that strives to achieve equal access to early childhood education.

Jelena is also the director of Original Magazine, an online platform and blog that produces community-oriented content as part of the NDF.

She holds a Bachelor Degree in Business Administration and Management from the prestigious Bocconi University in Milan and a Master’s in Luxury Goods and Services from the International University of Monaco.

Jelena also runs her own blog (although this hasn’t been updated since 2020) and is very active on social media, often sharing photos of herself, Novak and their family to her 688,000 Instagram followers (and counting).

How Did Novak and Jelena Djokovic Meet?

From the school yard to world championships, Jelena and Novak have been together for almost two decades. 

They first met at their Serbian high school in the late 90s, but didn’t officially start dating until the mid-2000s. They’re celebrating their 19th year together (and their 9th wedding anniversary) this year. 

Though the pair met at a young age, they didn’t officially start dating until the mid-2000s, a few years after Novak turned pro in 2003.

When Did Novak and Jelena Djokovic Get Married?

After eight years together, Novak and Jelena got engaged in 2013. The pair wed in an intimate (albeit luxurious) ceremony in a seaside resort overlooking the Adriatic Seas in Montenegro. The wedding was held at Aman Sveti Stefani in 2014, only four days after Novak took home the Wimbledon championship.

Do Novak and Jelena Djokovic Have Any Children?

Novak and Jelena share two children together, Stefan (9) and Tara (6).

In a post shared to Jelena’s Instagram account, she revealed that she was actually pregnant with Stefan at the time of her wedding.

The picture, which sees Jelena pose with her two children outside of Sveti Stefan, is accompanied by the sweet caption: “This is where Mommy and Daddy got married while Stefan was still in Mommy’s belly. And this island’s name is St. Stefan”.

There is no word on whether their children are following in Novak’s footsteps and picking up the tennis racket any time soon, but if they choose to pursue that path they’ll be lucky enough to be taught by the best.
