He’s played a cheating high school jock, a queer prince and most recently, a boyband frontman; now, Nicholas Galitzine is going in (yet) another direction.
Once again proving both his range and leading-man quality, the actor has been cast in his first superhero role. Per Variety, Galitzine has been tapped to lead the long-awaited Masters of the Universe film adaptation, starring as He-Man, the blonde hero who inspired the 1982 Mattel action figure. As such, Mattel will be involved in the film’s production, which is being developed with Amazon MGM Studios.
In a nice, full-circle moment for the actor, He-Man is actually the alter ego of a character called Prince Adam. So, after Purple Hearts and Red, White & Royal Blue, this is not only Galitzine’s first superhero flick, but his third time playing a prince.
Is There A Masters Of The Universe Movie?
Bringing the world of Eternia to the big screen has been a project nearly two decades in the making.
The project began at Warner Bros. and Sony, before moving to Netflix and finally landing at Amazon. MGM. Reportedly, West Side Story‘s Kyle Allen was attached to play He-Man at one point, before Netflix axed the project due to budget concerns last year.
“We’re thrilled to bring the beloved Masters of the Universe to life and couldn’t be more excited to announce the immensely talented Nicholas Galitzine as our He-Man,” said Julie Rapaport, head of film production and development at Amazon MGM Studios, via Variety. “This reintroduction of the character and his universe will be an epic film that will delight audiences from here to Eternia.”
Masters Of The Universe Cast
While it has been confirmed that Nicholas Galitzine will star in Masters Of The Universe as Prince Adam/He-Man, no other cast members have been announced.
It is also unconfirmed whether or not the role will require Galitzine to go Barbie blonde—we can only hope.
Masters Of The Universe Film Release Date
Masters Of The Universe will be released in American theatres on June 5, 2026. It is not yet confirmed whether this will also be the Australian release date.
