Calling all fans of Never Have I Ever: Prepare for another instalment of Mindy Kaling’s comedic prowess and Maitreyi Ramakrishnan’s on-point acting—a third season of the hit Netflix show is coming.
Netflix has given the go-ahead for another instalment just one month after the release of Never Have I Ever season 2—Kaling and the show’s co-creator Lang Fisher issued a statement alongside the announcement: “We are so grateful to Netflix and Universal Television for letting us continue to tell this story, and to the fans around the world who clamoured to see more of this badly behaved Indian teenager.”
The show is based loosely on Mindy Kaling’s upbringing in Boston. It follows Devi (played by Ramakrishnan), a teenager of Indian-American Tamil heritage. As she processes the grief of her father’s death, Devi decides change her social status at High School.
At the end of the second season, Devi was content and official with love interest Paxton, but there’s still a question mark over what will happen with Ben, the third pointy edge of the teenage love triangle she became embroiled in.
Here, everything we know about Never Have I Ever season 3, including its cast, plot and expected release date.
What will happen in Never Have I Ever season 3?
Given the show has only just been renewed, a script for the third season is likely in its early stages. That said, we can expect to see further developments from Devi’s love life after she finally went official with Paxton.
Darren Barnett who plays Paxton told Variety that his character arch from love interest to full-blown boyfriend might come with some challenges: “It’s gonna be interesting seeing how he handles being in a relationship—or not,” he told the publication.
“And how he handles doing things very much against the grain in terms of the social expectations, and what people have always expected of Paxton. He’s in very different shoes.”
Who will be in the cast of Never Have I Ever season 3?
Expect all the old faces to make an appearance in the third instalment.
The formidable Maitreyi Ramakrishnan perfectly portrays angsty main character Devi, while Darren Barnet plays her love interest Paxton. Then there’s Jaren Lewison who plays Ben and Richa Moorjani who plays Kamala, Devi’s cousin. Poorna Jagannathan plays Devi’s mother Dr. Nalini Vishwakumar.
It’s likely we’ll also see the return of narrator John McEnroe, who literally plays himself—and Devi’s late father’s idol.
Of course, Mindy Kaling and Lang Fisher will be back as executive producers.
When will Never Have I Ever season 3 be released?
Never Have I Ever season 3 will be dropping on August 12.
Until then, we’ll be re-watching the series from start to finish—those under-half-hour TV shows are a true blessing for an easily-distracted mind.
