Prepare to unleash your inner eight-year-old: Netflix is bringing all your fave Roald Dahl stories to TV with a new animated series. We’re talking Matilda, The BFG and Charlie and the Chocolate Factory.
Netflix tweeted the exciting news on Tuesday morning, announcing production would start on the animated event series in 2019.
According to Bustle, the forthcoming series will likely also include lesser-known Dahl classics: The Twits, The Enormous Crocodile, Henry Sugar, Billy and the Minpins and Rhyme Stew.
It’s hard to pick a favourite, but we’re probably most excited about the Matilda remake. Starring Mara Wilson and Danny DeVito, the 1996 classic is still one of the best films ever made – don’t @ me.
Let’s hope the new series lives up to the originals. Dahl’s wife Felicity is confident they will. “Roald would, I know, be thrilled,” she said of The Roald Dahl Story Company’s partnership with Netflix. “Our mission, which is purposely lofty, is for as many children as possible around the world to experience the unique magic and positive message of Roald Dahl’s stories.”
Bring it.
