Murder Mystery revolves around NYC detective (Sandler) and his wife (Aniston) who finally embark on their long-promised European trip. Aniston meets a wealthy man who invites the lovely couple aboard his yacht for a family gathering, but things go south when someone dies and the couple become the prime suspects in the murder.

On Tuesday, Netflix revealed the film had been viewed by nearly 31 million households in its first three days, making history for the biggest opening weekend Netflix has seen to date. The film was viewed by 13,374,914 accounts in the US and Canada, and 17,494,949 worldwide, the streaming giant revealed in a tweet.

Murder Mystery‘s record-breaking opening weekend also puts the film on track to break Netflix’s first-week record, which was previously set by the Sandra Bullock-starring horror film Bird Box, released last December.

Netflix revealed Bird Box was watched by 45,037,125 accounts in its first week, breaking the record for best first-week views.
