Just when you thought that getting jiggy was a fairly harmless activity to partake in (obviously we’re talking consensual and protected here)….
It turns out not all positions were created equal, and one of your faves might actually be endangering your partner’s penis. Seriously.
According to a study out of Brazil, ‘Girl on Top’ – or Cowgirl if you will – is the most sexually dangerous and was deemed responsible for half of all penile fractures. Ouch.
(It’s also one of the most likely to make a woman orgasm, just saying.)
The study also cites ‘The Pogo Stick’ (missionary standing up), ‘Doggy’ (from behind), and ‘The Cowgirl Lean Back’ (Girl on top but with the woman leaning right back) as the next most likely to cause injury.
“Our hypothesis is that when woman is on top she usually controls the movement, with her entire body weight landing on the erect penis…”
“Our study supports the fact that sexual intercourse with ‘woman on top’ is the potentially riskiest sexual position related to penile fracture,” the scientists who worked on the study told The Daily Star.
“When the man is controlling the movement, he has better chances of stopping the penetration energy in response to the pain related to the penis harm, minimising it.”
And so what’s the safest position then you ask? Well no prizes for guessing really; it’s missionary.
Well as the old saying goes with great risk comes great reward, but at least now you’ve been warned…
