There’s nothing better than a good sexual fantasy to spice things up in the bedroom. Whether you’re imagining a hunky firefighter coming to declare his love (and then make love) or are all about a power dynamic, it can add a new flavour to a partner you already know well.
At the same time, it can be intimidating sharing our fantasies with others. What will they think of the way our kinks work, and what if they don’t feel the same?
Well, the good news is that as a society we have come a long way from the kink-shaming days of yester-year, with more and more Australians open to discussing their sexual fantasies in a more open and unencumbered way.
We can’t help but wonder, what are the most common ones out there? According to sexual wellness company Lovehoney, the most popular fantasies actually differ greatly between women and men.
The Top Three Male Fantasies In Australia, Revealed
You may not be surprised to find out that a lot of the male fantasies revolve around someone new entering the relationship. Do note, this doesn’t actually have to be someone new, but it may instead involve a partner dressing up in a way that is new and exciting, or even initiating a new position or style that feels fresh and thrilling.
The top three fantasies are split very equally for men between:
- Sex with a stranger
- Oral sex
- Sex with someone who is not my partner
The Top Three Female Fantasies In Australia, Revealed
Differing from the way men approach sex, the most common female fantasies centre around romance and being ‘whisked off your feet’. We suppose that must have something to do with the endless Mills & Boon and sexy fanfiction Wattpads we tend to inhale and call ‘reading’.
The top three female fantasies included:
- Romantic sex
- Passionate or ‘meaningful’ sex
- Power/control/rough sex
These fantasies weren’t shared equally, however, with romantic sex and meaningful sex taking up two-thirds of respondents.
What Do Sexual Fantasies Mean?
Looking at the data at hand, there appears to be a bit of a divide between the way different Australians experience their fantasies.
This may mean that at some point or other, you may find out that your partner’s tastes diverge from your own. In this instance, it’s always best to sit down and discuss boundaries, and how you can make fantasies a reality between the confines of the relationship you’ve embarked on.
When In Doubt, Why Not Try Role Play?
Sometimes broadening your perspective of sexual fantasies can help to bond with your significant other. Why not try one of the most fantasised about professions for a little touch of role play?
According to Lovehoney, the most attractive professions according to women are:
- Firefighter (39%)
- Builder (39%)
- Police Officer (25%)
- Doctor (20%)
- Mechanic (17%)
While the most attractive professions according to men are:
- Flight Attendant (37%)
- Nurse (34%)
- Secretary (24%)
- Teacher (23%)
- Actor (19%)
So, maybe it’s time to get out the fire extinguisher and a Britney Spears ‘Toxic’-esque flight attendant’s outfit and experiment?
