2019 has been a wild ride so far. Liam Neeson confidently asserted he would have “killed any black man” following the rape of a close friend, Brad Pitt turned up Jennifer Aniston’s 50th birthday bash and possibly the most shocking, Kylie Jenner’s BFF Jordyn Woods cheated with Khloe Kardashian’s boyfriend and baby daddy Tristan Thompson.
But, things are about to take a turn for the worst as March’s Mercury Retrograde is upon us.
Allow us to explain. Mercury Retrograde is a period that occurs a few times a year, (it’s happening right now until March 28, 2018). Mercury Retrograde is a time when Mercury appears to be moving backwards, along the circuit around the Sun. After a three-and-a-half-week period, the planet will reverse itself and move “forward” again. Keep in mind, the planet isn’t actually moving forward or backwards…it’s the closest planet to the Sun and its orbit is much shorter than Earth’s. About three or four times a year, Mercury speeds past our little planet, hence the period of total mayhem.
The idea is that the planet Mercury rules all types of communication, travel, formal contracts, agreements and networking with people. During Retrograde, the planet Mercury is said to be sleeping or resting, leaving its usual tasks out of whack.
Mercury, being the planet of communication, technology and everyday travel, basically rules our day-to-day stuff. From emails and texts, driving, errands, public transport and anything else that has to do with going somewhere, using devices and communication with others. When Mercury enters one of its retrograde periods the astrological consequences involve all those aforementioned areas of our lives exploding all over the place.
But fear not! Retrogrades mark a good time to think instead of act, to reflect instead of react.
During Mercury Retrograde it’s wise to double check your e-mail responses. Check in with your reservations to confirm them before taking off for that trip overseas. Keep your computer systems up to date before entering into a retrograde period. This is basic survival for the seasoned retrograde soul.
