Meghan Markle – now formally the Duchess of Sussex – has well and truly moved on from her acting days following her Royal Wedding to Prince Harry. That doesn’t mean Suits is quite ready to let her go just yet.
Markle and her TV husband Patrick J. Adams made their formal exit from the legal drama last year, it’s been announced that he’s making a return for the Suits final season as Mike Ross – and his scenes include Meghan’s character, Rachel Zane.
Adams told ET that while Meghan won’t physically be onscreen with fellow co-stars, the show has found a way to weave her in.
“There’s phone calls with Rachel saying, ‘Goodbye, I love you,’ and, you know, I think there’s some obvious acknowledgement that she’s still there and a part of the show,” he said, adding that things are still “good” between Mike and Rachel following their move to Seattle.

“We’re happy. I promise you they’re happy.”
Last month, showrunner Aaron Korsh teased Meghan’s upcoming appearance in the end of season, telling Deadline, “When [Mike] comes back, I do believe there is a little update on Rachel.”
When asked if Meghan herself might make an appearance in the last season, Korsh said, “You never know. There is always a chance she is going to pick up the phone and call me and say can I come back, and if she did she would be welcome back with arms wide open. But no, l don’t see that happening.”
Suits tells the story of big-time New York lawyer Harvey Specter (Gabriel Macht) and his law firm team, which includes Donna Paulsen (Sarah Rafferty), Robert Zane (Wendell Pierce), Jessica Pearson (Gina Torres), Louis Litt (Rick Hoffman), Katrina Bennett (Amanda Schull), Alex Williams (Dulé Hill) and Samantha Wheeler (Katherine Heigl).
In February 2017, USA Network began early talks for a potential spinoff with Jessica Pearson. Gina Torres was rumoured to be producing and starring in the series, which was later confirmed. The spinoff will be called Pearson and will premiere on Wednesday, July 17. The final season of Suits will serve as the backdrop for the upcoming series.
The new Suits season will premiere on Netflix.
