We hope Prince Harry likes hempseeds… because if her daily food diary is any indication, girlfriend Meghan Markle has an affinity for foods only the #cleaneating crew has ever heard of.
The Suits star and lifestyle blogger behind The Tig (named after her favourite vino variety, Tignanello) has opened up about her eating choices to Delish, and they’re nothing if not enlightening.
Although her guilty pleasures are perfectly ordinary – “French fries and vino”, for the record – when filming, Markle goes hard-core. Hempseed-level hardcore.
Instead of coffee, she sips on green juices for energy in the afternoons and her signature pasta sauce is simply slow-cooked zucchini, which turns into what she describes as a “filthy, sexy mush” after four to five hours. We’ll take her word for it.
The Tig frequently posts recipes with uber-healthy ingredients as the star, from Spicy Broccoli and Hempseed Stew to Cabbage Kimchi and Kombucha (although there are more tempting treats like Caramel Pear Galette up there too).
As for how she squeezes into her Suits wardrobe, Markle’s filming diet begins with hot water with lemon first thing in the morning, followed by steel-cut oats with bananas and agave syrup for brekky. Lunch is a salad with “protein of some kind,” and dinner is “pasta with zucchini, lots of parmesan and a glass of wine.”
She snacks on apples with almond butter and sea salt, and an afternoon green juice.
