For an episode that was jam-packed with action and intrigue, The Game of Thrones’s incredible season finale, The Winds of Winter, threw up the most unlikely of heroines – the badass Lyanna Mormont, the surliest looking 10-year-old in all of Westeros.
Her star turn came near the end as Jon Snow was attempting to convince the Lords of the North to support him in the impending war with the White Walkers, only for his pleas fall on deaf ears.
Up steps Lady Mormont whose rousing speech – “I don’t care if he’s a bastard. Ned Stark’s blood runs through his veins. He’s my king from this day until his last day” – make the burly warriors finally see sense. As a result of her scolding, all those present declare Snow “King in the North”.
Move over Cersei and Daenerys, can we just give the Iron Throne to the sassy Lyanna?
