MAFS Recap: Booka & Brett’s Relationship Crumbles

RIP.

Anyone else feel like this week of Married At First Sight is going to be super hectic? Between Jake and Bec having to stay together even though they hate each other at this point, to the demise of Booka and Brett, there is a LOT going on already.

First, we have to get through some of the happier couples. Johnny and Kerrie are doing the intimacy week laughing challenge and being cute. Boring! Over to Booka and Brett – Booka is writing a looong list of “things that are sick and things that are sucky” about her relationship with Brett. She’s trying to keep it light-hearted but it’s going down like a sack of bricks with Brett, who feels she doesn’t listen to him and doesn’t consider his feelings at all.

Meanwhile Bec is pouring a massive glass of red after that theatre Zoom business with Jake. Bec legit has no idea how to apologise to someone, saying she “didn’t mean to hurt his feelings” when she called him boring, and she’s “sorry it did”. What? On? Earth? Bec?

“Sorry you were offended tho”

They just can’t seem to get on the same page, and honestly it feels primarily like that’s because Bec can’t ever concede. However I heard rumours they make it to the end, so maybe they somehow mend fences soon?

Meanwhile, Alana and Jason go do the Zoom family theatre thing. It goes badly and they end up having an argument in front of their fam and barely even speak to them. Afterward the argument continues at their apartment and Alana says she’s “not here for long”, which leads to Jason totally shutting down.

Then we head back to Booka and Brett, who are meeting their family on Zoom. Booka’s parents encourage their intense conversations and Brett feels he can see where Booka gets that part of her personality from. It goes fine, but not WELL. These two seem to be drifting apart REAL quick.

Over to Johnny and Kerrie who are writing letters to each other. Johnny talks about his beloved Aunt who died of cancer. The experience brings them closer and they sleep together that night!

Alana and Jason kind of make up, with both agreeing that they could work together if they can overcome the arguing and stuff. Alana ends up crying because she feels the experiment is really emotional and its taking its toll on her.

Honestly you couldn’t pay me to go on this show

Next it’s time for the new game – rating each other’s marriages! What could possibly go wrong! Bryce and Melissa are judging Jake and Bec, and vice versa. Great choice, producers. Cue Bec just rattling off shit to Jake who is like:

“Slow down I’ve got RSI already”

Bec and Jake get their feedback first, and it’s pretty… accurate? Considering Bryce has a personal vendetta against Bec going on, he was pretty balanced, saying the lack of apology from Bec has led to their relationship breakdown. Facts only, right? Bec however is like:

MAFS
Yeah… no

They each give the other couple a task to “fix” their relationship. Melissa gets to control Bryce for a day, right down to what he wears. Jake and Bec have to swap places and do role play as each other.

Melissa makes Bryce go to dinner dressed like this:

So pretty

While Bec and Jake really shine, particularly Jake showing us his shapely legs in one of Bec’s dresses:

Rude for his legs to look this good tbh

They have heaps of fun with it and it seems to rekindle a spark between them. They spend the whole task laughing, pretty much.

Next is Patrick and Belinda writing about Booka and Brett. They’re WAY harsh, and the entire letter is about Booka being self-centred and talking about how smart she is and how good her band is. There is literally nothing in there about Brett, and Booka seems totally blown away with how harsh the feedback is.

She asks Brett if he agrees and he says yes. She then calls him on his shit, saying Patrick doesn’t know her that well, so for him to have this opinion of her he’d have to be getting information elsewhere, namely from Brett himself.

Her task is to make a Brett Day, but before we see that we have to experience Patrick and Belinda doing some really G rated nude life drawing of each other. Well, PG rated I guess:

Sorry

They’ve been told to do this to develop their intimacy, which Booka and Brett feel they lack. They say Patrick and Belinda seem like they’re just friends, which I totally agree with. The intimacy challenge goes fine? It doesn’t seem to change anything.

Meanwhile, Alana has decided to make Jason dinner in her knickers, so that’s something.

Back to Booka and Brett for Brett Day. Booka has gone next level and I don’t know guys, I thought it was pretty funny:

This was “fishing with Brett” lol

She even writes this stupid song for him called “Brett”. It’s all very tongue in cheek and hilarious but Brett is so off it, I thought he might pop a blood vessel.

MAFS
*brain explodes*

He feels like she’s not taking his feelings about their relationship seriously, which I guess I understand but also he’s told her to have more fun SO many times, and now the woman is taking the piss and he’s annoyed?

Anyway, it’s a lot but mainly it’s sad to see the golden couple totally crumbling. Damn, love really ISN’T real, huh.
