Julia Roberts Has Joined Instagram And Her First Post Is Perfect

Follow 4 follow, Julia?

The Instagram world is a better place now and it’s all because Julia Roberts’ sunshine-y grin has graced it. The Erin Brockovich star has officially joined the social media platform and she just uploaded her first post, which is well deserving of a double tap.

The actress joined Instagram yesterday under the handle @juliaroberts and Instagram worked fast to make sure she was verified. She kept things pretty short and sweet in her bio with just the word ‘human’ – because Julia Roberts is not a woman who needs a lengthy introduction.

Her first post was a self-portrait, in which she cranked out that legendary Julia Roberts smile as she sat cross-legged on the grass. Julia wore denim shorts and a cute black jumper by Chinti & Parker, which was embroidered in the word LOVE with a red arrow detail. She was just as chatty in her caption as she was in her bio, writing a simple, ‘Hello’ with a sun emoji.

Since Julia’s joined Instagram, she’s already racked up an eye-watering 519k followers while her first post alone is at 227,453 likes at the time of this article. One notable thing was the fact that she had turned off all her comments, so you’ll have to write your welcome messages to her somewhere else. Julia also isn’t following anybody at the moment, so the betting pool’s out on who she’ll follow first…

It’s something of a surprising move for Julia, who has previously been reluctant about social media platforms.

In an interview with InStyle, she said, ‘Listen, I don’t have my head in the sand. I’m aware of the different outlets, however you label them. It’s like people talking about a TV show — I can be perfectly aware of the TV show and the story, but it doesn’t mean I watch it. I have other friends who watch it, and they tell me about it. I mean, we were talking about Instagram. Everyone has Instagram on their phone. And I just, yeah, [if I had it] I would be looking at it all the time.’

We wonder what made her change her mind. In any case, we’re looking forward to seeing what the actress gets up to in her downtime and will be avidly waiting for a cute behind-the-scenes throwback of her on set of Notting Hill, Mystic Pizza, Pretty Woman or any of our other favourite noughties movies.
