Less than five months after Jennifer Lopez filed for separation from Ben Affleck, the pair have settled the terms of their divorce.
According to E!News, Jennifer Lopez filed for divorce in L.A County Superior Court on August 2024 – exactly two years after the couple’s official wedding ceremony in Georgia. She listed the date of her separation with Affleck April 26, 2024.
Rumours of the couple’s breakup first emerged in May 2024 when Jennifer Lopez attended the Met Gala alone. Then, both Affleck and J.Lo skipped each other’s birthdays in August of that year.
The rumours that Jennifer Lopez and Ben Affleck were heading for divorce began as tabloid fodder, with InTouch claiming on May 15 that an “insider” told them: “The writing is on the wall—it’s over. They’re headed for a divorce” Other tabloids jumped in with their own sources in following days, including TMZ, who claimed the couple are living separately.
Now, after a whirlwind of candid interviews, sad pap shots and multiple family catch-ups, the pair have managed to bring an end to their decades-long love affair in an incredibly amicable way.
The news was first reported by TMZ, which confirmed the ex-couple had settled their divorce on 6 January, 2025.
According to the outlet, despite marrying without a prenup, each of the parties walked away from the divorce with everything they’d individually acquired during their two year marriage.
Mediated by divorce lawyer to the stars Laura Wasser, who also counts Angelina Jolie, Maria Shriver and Britney Spears as previous clients, the friendly exes also managed to come to an agreement about who takes what when their $61 million mansion is finally sold.
While the terms of that part of the settlement remain sealed, we can only assume the profits will be split 50/50 when the time comes.
Notably, neither will pay spousal support to each other – proving once and for all, that J.Lo’s love indeed, don’t cost a thing.

Back in May, Page Six, last week Lopez was caught liking an Instagram post about unhealthy relationships.
The infographic-style post explained that “you cannot build a healthy relationship with somebody” who “lacks integrity and emotional safety,” “doesn’t respect your time,” “lacks communication skills” and “doesn’t know who they are or what they want.”
Jennifer Lopez had been effusive about her happiness with Affleck, so her engagement with the Instagram post was surprising to fans.

The divorce rumour mill heated up again in May with the news that Lopez had cancelled her global This Is Me… Now tour. But the singer’s reasoning for cancelling the shows has fans suspicious that her marriage might be on the rocks.
Taking to her newsletter, On The JLo, Lopez wrote, “I am completely heartsick and devastated about letting you down.”
“Please know that I wouldn’t do this if I didn’t feel that it was absolutely necessary. I promise I will make it up to you and we will all be together again. I love you all so much. Until next time …”

On June 10, multiple outlets reported that the couple put their family home on the market.
Lopez and Affleck purchased the Beverly Hills mansion for a whopping US^0.8 million just over a year ago, in May 2023.
The 4270 square-metre home boasts 12 bedrooms, 24 bathrooms, an indoor sports complex and a 12 car garage, according to Entertainment Tonight. Despite this, Lopez shut down rumours of a divorce rumours again in May while asked about it on a press tour for the film Atlas. She responded to a reporter’s question: “You know better than that,” before moving on.

Differences In Approach To The Relationship
In a May 21 report, a source told People their marriage simply “is not in the best place at the moment.” They claimed that the marital tension is down the the personality conflicts, with Lopez wanting to “open her heart to her fans and to the world,” and Affleck being “more introspective and private.”
However, the pair’s bond has remained for two decades, with Affleck and Lopez rekindling their romance in 2021, 17 years after they originally broke up. As the source noted, “There have always been clashes in their styles and how they handle issues, but nothing has stopped their love over the years.”
