Jennifer Lawrence is returning to the big screen, and doing it on both sides of the lens.
Apple TV+ has won the rights to Causeway, a feature film starring Lawrence in the lead role. She’ll also join the film’s director Lila Neugebauer behind the scenes as a co-producer.
Causeway is the first project Lawrence has signed onto after welcoming her first child with husband Cooke Maroney earlier this year. While the actor has kept her role as a new mother well away from the public eye, her upcoming role onscreen will be front and centre.
Below, everything we know (so far) about Causeway.
What is Causeway about?
Described as a military drama, Causeway will follow a soldier (played by Lawrence) who struggles to adjust to her life back in New Orleans after serving at war. The film has been in the works for sometime, and was previously titled Red, White and Water.
Who is in the cast of Causeway?
The Hunger Games’ Jennifer Lawrence helms the cast as the lead protagonist. Brian Tyree Henry, known for his work in Eternals and Bullet Train will also star.
Theatre director Lila Neugebauer will direct while Lawrence will join Justine Ciarrocchi as co-producer. The screenplay was written by Ottessa Moshfegh, Luke Goebel and Elizabeth Sanders.
Where can you watch Causeway?
Causeway will be released in theatres and on Apple TV +.
Head to Apple TV+ to login or sign up.
When will Causeway be released?
Causeway is set to drop in theatres and on Apple TV+ “later this year”, per Deadline.
Granted it will be worth the wait—Lawrence’s last film, Adam McKay’s Don’t Look Up, was number one on Netflix over the Christmas period. No doubt Causeway will be just as popular.
