It’s only fitting that the model, television presenter and businesswoman has teamed up with Catch Group to launch the luxury travel site Bon Voyage. The site offers curated experiences to lavish travel destinations including the South Pacific, Fiji, Thailand and Dubai, at affordable rates.

Hawkins reveals the next travel destination on her bucket list is another trip to Italy, a country she loves for its beautiful scenery, vibrant culture and food.

“I’ve been there once and I just absolutely loved it. The food is incredible, I’m a bit of a foodie when I’m travelling,” she explains. “Their pasta and the pizza is amazing— you can eat so many carbs because it’s not processed and you don’t put on any weight—whereas here, not so much!”

Positano is one of Hawkins’s favourite places to visit, while she’s keen to see Tuscany. “It’s on my to-do-list. My mum always loved the movie Under the Tuscan Sun so I’d love to go there,” she says.

For beach escapes, Hawkins recommends Bail— “it is so close to us and so beautiful”—as well as the Maldives.

“It’s pure luxury because the water is so beautiful. You can just bounce in and out of the water and read a book and just chill. And Bon Voyage have deals for Fiji, Bali, Thailand,” she adds.

In her years of globetrotting for photo-shoots and TV commitments, Hawkins has nailed packing for holidays.

“I definitely would take one pair of heels wherever I go, but you tend to wear flats when you’re in a tropical destination,” she explains. “But if I went to New York or Paris I would be taking many more! So I’d say one pair of heels and sneakers and flats.”

Hawkins always brings her workout clothes and yoga gear, plus a great pair of sunglasses and a hat.

As for beauty items she cannot travel without, you’ll always find a good hydrating mosituriser and a high SPF sunscreen (preferably one without oil to avoid breakouts) in her bag.

“I’d say J-Bronze too—I’ve got to be tanned. And I’m so into hair products, I love taking beach spray and volumiser, so you can get away with having dirty hair for four days so it looks gritty and sexy-beachy.”

Hawkins also has an ingenious tip to beat dreaded jet lag.

“I mean everyone gets it right? But I take melatonin—you can get a script from the doctors,” she advises. “Also I’m big into running after a flight. Out and about on the streets or the treadmill for sure.”

She travels with her husband and “best friend” Jake Wall as often as she can since the pair married in 2013.

“We are kind of like two peas in a pod, we just go everywhere together. If it is for work I’m still like, ‘Do you want to come?’ I just miss him too much,” she says.

Newcastle-raised Hawkins’ earliest memories of travelling evoke a perfect Aussie escape. She remembers visiting her grandfather’s house by a lake, as well as road tripping to Queensland.

“When I was nine, my parents took us on what I thought was the biggest holiday— it felt like it was an overseas holiday—to Queensland, I just remember it being the best thing ever,” she recalls.

“I have such fond memories. We got in our yellow van—I’m one of four kids—and we drove all the way to Queensland. I remember my brothers pulling on the seat belts, and I got car sick, but it was absolutely the best holiday.

“We stopped at the Big Banana and we stayed in a caravan park— it’s not like we were rolling in money or anything. That was pretty special.”
