Bigger car or a hatchback? Hyundai i30 Go 2018 review

Do you really need a bigger car? Or will a hatchback suffice?

Almost every female starts out buying a hatchback. Theyโ€™re zippy, theyโ€™re easy to park and theyโ€™re the right size for your girl-about-town life. You might even have one while pregnant with your first baby, but things quickly escalate and before you know it, youโ€™re signing papers for a seven seater Toyota Kluger. The question is, do you really need a bigger car? Or will a hatchback suffice?

To test out the theory, I drove a Hyundai i30 around for a whole week with my family of four. It drives pretty well and although Iโ€™m used to larger SUVs, thereโ€™s something refreshing about jumping into a small car, being able to nip in and out of traffic and zoom straight into parks without even thinking about whether youโ€™ll fit or not. Itโ€™s almost like dropping a dress size.

Itโ€™s not what I would refer to as spacious but my two girls had enough room in the backseat, plus the boot was good for a hatchback โ€“ it fit all my groceries and easily fit a pram too. Itโ€™s got Apple Carplay/Android Auto which means you plug in your phone and youโ€™re instantly connected via the multimedia screen to main phone apps like maps and Spotify.

The i30 is basically like the Isla Fischer of cars โ€“ everyoneโ€™s best friend.
