Another significant astrological event will take over our skies this weekend with an April pink moon.
Also known as a ‘paschal moon’ or ‘micro moon’, the sweetly named astro-phenomenon marks the first full moon of April as well as the first full moon of the autumn season–for those of us in the southern hemisphere.
The pink moon will not only be a dreamy lunar spectacle but will hold astrological significance as a period of healing.
Here’s what you need to know about April 2025’s pink moon true meaning.
What Is A Pink Moon?
The pink moon received its name thanks to the pink wildflowers typically in bloom (in North America) during the lunar cycle in which it appears. Sadly, the moon will be pink in name alone, maintaining its usual silver glow.
It’s also a micro moon, marking its apogee, meaning it is at its farthest point from earth. Essentially, it is as it sounds, meaning the moon will appear at its smallest, particularly in comparison to supermoons which fall in the opposite part of its orbital cycle.

The Pink Moon Meaning
Scientific explanations aside, the pink moon or in astrology terms the Libra full moon is a signifier of impending change.
“There are no coincidences in astrology, only cosmic cues nudging us toward growth. This weekend’s Libra Full Moon arrives just as Venus, Libra’s ruler, ends her retrograde, marking a powerful turning point,” astrologer and author, Jordanna Levin, tells us.
“The past six weeks have been a deep dive into love, self-worth, and relationship patterns. Now, with the Full Moon illuminating what’s surfaced, and Chiron amplifying our capacity to heal, it’s a moment to reflect, release, and realign. Think of it as a cosmic check-in: Where are you ready to stop repeating and start evolving?”
When Is The Pink Moon?
As mentioned, the pink moon is the first full moon of the new season. For Australians, the pink moon will be visible across two days; April 12th and April 13th. While best viewed at night, the moon will reach its fullest at 10.22am (EAST) on April 13th.
