The West Hollywood City Council has held a vote to remove the US President, Donald Trump’s, star from Hollywood’s Walk of Fame and the verdict is… he’s fired!
Trump’s star was added to the Walk of Fame way back in 2007 when he was just a regular ol’ US businessman with a reality TV series side hustle called The Apprentice.
Since then, Trump has gone onto become the President of the United States, so does he even need a celebrity star, given he has all the recognition as the leader of the entire country?
Probably not, and the star has been vandalized a number of times since he was sworn into office, so removing it would seem like a sensible option.
Which is obviously the thinking behind the historic West Hollywood City Council vote. West Hollywood Mayor, John Duran announced the news in Tweet late Monday and according to the New York Post the next step will be to take the proposal to the Los Angeles City Council and Hollywood Chamber of Commerce.
However, the internet isn’t getting too excited just yet, with Leron Gubler, the Hollywood Chamber of Commerce’s president and CEO telling the New York Post, “The Hollywood Walk of Fame is a registered historic landmark. Once a star has been added to the Walk, it is considered a part of the historic fabric of the Hollywood Walk of Fame. Because of this, we have never removed a star from the Walk.”
So far Star Wars actor Mark Hamill is one of the only celebrities to react, posting a suggestion on Twitter to replace Trump’s star with one for Carrie Fisher.
