We’ve Been Gifted With A ‘Fleabag’ Reunion: Phoebe Waller-Bridge And Andrew Scott Team Up Again

The Hot Priest and Fleabag!

When Fleabag dropped last year, we instantly fell in love with Phoebe Waller-Bridge and “Hot Priest” Andrew Scott. Now the two will reunite for Scott’s HBO drama His Dark Materials.

Scott announced the news himself during the show’s virtual Comic-Con panel. “My daemon is going to be played by somebody who is very close to me in real life, which is a young performer and writer called Phoebe Waller-Bridge,” the actor revealed. “It’s all about companionship and friendship and loyalty and that’s what I feel about Phoebe in my real life. So, it’s wonderful that that’s happening.”

His Dark Materials, now in its second season, is a fantasy drama based on the Philip Pullman novel series of the same name. In it, daemons are the animal form of a human’s soul and Waller-Bridge will play the soul mate of Scott’s character John Parry. According to Radio Times, the actress will be playing a female osprey named Sayan Kötör.

It shouldn’t be hard for the duo, who played the unlucky-in-love couple in the Emmy-award winning Fleabag. Waller-Bridge has previously stated that the role of the Hot Priest was written specifically for Scott. “It couldn’t have been anyone else,” she said at the TCAs last January, per Vanity Fair. “He’s just a magical human being. He can’t do anything other than be really complex and truthful in a character—so I knew that the moment I gave this character to him in my imagination, he became real.”

Earlier this year, Scott lent his Fleabag character to fellow hit series, Sally Rooney’s Normal Peopleto make an appearance as Connell and Marrianne make confessions. Watch the clip below:
