And while she’s become famous for *that* heartbreaking Joni Mitchell scene in Love Actually or her stint as Professor Trelawney in Harry Potter—and now as Miss Trunchbull in Matilda—she’s getting ready to add another genre of acting to her belt.

Starring in the film Good Luck To You, Leo Grande, Thompson plays a widowed teacher who is attempting to rediscover and embrace her sexuality at every age. Thompson has previously reported that she went “entirely nude” for the comedy, explaining that it felt “very challenging” to take part in such an intimate scene at the age of 62.

“[We] talked about our relationship with our bodies, drew them, discussed the things that we find difficult about, things we like about them, described one another’s bodies.”

Given the hype—and the long-awaited discussion about female pleasure that the film is sure to encourage—you’re probably wondering where you can watch the film for yourself…

Is There A Trailer For Good Luck To You, Leo Grande?

Thankfully, there is a trailer for the film. In the two-minute sneak peek, Thompson’s character meets Leo himself in a random hotel room, surprised that Leo looks exactly like his photo. Quick to keep her calm, she begins to panic about being intimate with someone other than her late husband, who is the only man she’s ever slept with.

“You’re the only adventure I’ve ever had,” she tells Leo, as the pair clearly grow closer emotionally.

What is the plot of Good Luck To You, Leo Grande?

Directed by Sophie Hyde, the film follows Nancy Stokes (Emma Thompson), who is a retired religious education teacher looking for romance after the death of her husband. After years in a dull marriage, she decides to reach out to a younger sex worked named, you guessed it, Leo Grande. Nancy hopes to experience an evening of self-discovery and pleasure unlike any she’s ever had before, but as they begin to bond, we see how both Nancy and Leo both have their own struggles in life.

Explaining that the film is “unlike anything” she has ever done before, Thompson went into the film’s themes while in a Q&A chat about the film.

“I had never seen anything like this before. The first thing that struck me was its sheer originality,” Thompson ssaid. “Then what struck me next was the real necessity of this film—the way that we talk about pleasure or shame—I didn’t realise how thirsty I was for a story like this until it came along.”

Who is cast in Good Luck To You, Leo Grande?

Of course, we already know that Thompson stars in the lead role as Nancy Stokes. As for Leo Grande himself, Peaky Blinders star Daryl McCormack will star in the titular role. But given that the film is focused on the two’s relationship, there are only three other cast members listed, Isabella Laughland, who plays a waitress called Becky, as well as Charlotte Ware and Carina Lopes who also star as waitresses.
