It’s a monumental year for women at the Golden Globes, with female-led success Barbie earning the most nods among the film categories.
The film is recognised for its direction, writing, performances and box office success, thanks to a newly-created awards category: Box Office Achievement in Motion Pictures.
This category recognises films that earned more than $150 million (USD) at the box office, and also paves the way for a film nomination for one Taylor Swift off the back of her successful Eras Tour movie.
This is Swift’s fifth Golden Globes nod, though her first that’s not for Best Original Song.
The Golden Globes have also pointed out that half of the screenplay contenders this year are women, and two of its six Best Director nominees are women, including Greta Gerwig for Barbie and Celine Song for Past Lives.
As is the tradition, the Golden Globes celebrates the achievements of film and television. In 2024, it was the finale season of Succession that swept nominations, leading the pack with nine nods.
Now that we know exactly who took home the little gold trophies, you can read a complete list of nominees and winners below.
