Following an extensive quest for the perfect Sydney space to call home, Georgia Fowler was immediately captivated when she first came across this three-bedroom, four-bathroom, whole-floor garden apartment in Bellevue Hill, in the heart of Sydney’s leafy, cosmopolitan eastern suburbs.

The New Zealand-born supermodel and her husband, Nathan Dalah, a co-founder of the hugely successful Fishbowl food chain, acquired the luxury property, within the Palomar residential site, off the plan in April 2021, coinciding with Fowler’s first pregnancy.

“We purchased it while I was pregnant with my daughter Dylan [now two] and needed some more room to make a family home,” says Fowler, who gave birth to the couple’s second child, a boy named Zeke Atlas, in February this year. “We fell in love with the space based on the renders.”

However, like many endeavours during the pandemic period, the couple encountered numerous obstacles before finally settling in last year.

“[When we bought it,] it was a build that ‘wasn’t far off’; that was until Covid restrictions came back,” Fowler tells marie claire Lifestyle. “To top it off, we had the worst weather and every other possible building delay you could think of.”

During the lengthy construction period, Fowler and Dalah used the opportunity to carefully customise their interiors and incorporate bespoke touches that reflected their unique style and preferences. “We loved that we could make some personalised edits to the place to make it feel like our own, and that we could move into something brand new to make our memories,” says Fowler.

“We chose to tile in herringbone stone over the floorboards, and use our own sourced lighting sconces in all bathrooms. Nathan got a little over-excited adding all the extra appliances possible to the kitchen. And finally we decided on adding a pool. This was the best decision ever and Dylan is in it every day.”

With a passion for mid-century design and contemporary art, Fowler turned to the Tigmi Trading in-house design service to help source pieces that aligned with her vision and growing family’s needs.

“I loved working with Tigmi, [its owner and creative director] Danielle McEwan has such a shared vision, love and passion for interiors and furniture pieces,” says Fowler.

“I learnt so much from her, and every single piece we sourced and pulled together fit the space perfectly. We brainstormed, I shared items and inspiration I loved, and we worked together on layouts and balancing textures and tones.”

As a guest in Fowler’s inviting home, you’ll always find the doors wide open and an atmosphere of warmth. Her most cherished space for hosting is the courtyard.

“I love the outdoors and we have the courtyard open rain or shine,” she exclaims. “It’s so private. The gardens have grown absolutely wild – and are now cascading into the courtyard. We’ve spent many weekends just staying in to entertain, with friends coming and going. I love that I can be in the kitchen and still have eyes on Dylan playing outside.”

Inspired by the Mediterranean aesthetic and surrounded by verdant landscapes and stunning Sydney vistas, Fowler’s decorating ethos centres on crafting a serene and organic haven. “I’m drawn to a neutral palette and I love to play with textures in the home. I feel places are brought to life with fun lighting and decorative pieces, but I always chose larger furniture to love and last forever,” she explains.

“The palettes, textures and feel of items at Tigmi Trading fit our place and our style to a T. I love to mix vintage and new and I think that’s what Tigmi does so well. It’s all about textures, layering and having a little bit of fun with it.”

To complement Fowler’s neutral interiors, she selected distinctive local and international artworks. “I’ve actually stumbled across a number of artists via Instagram and Pinterest, and I love supporting home-grown Kiwi talent too,” she reveals. “My recent purchases have been [by artists] Nick Herd, Tom Mackie, Tan Arlidge and – of course – there’s my Cappelen Dimyr tapestry. I love art that has texture. Every piece I own casts a shadow, which highlights depth in the space and helps to draw your eye in.”

As a supermodel in demand globally, and with Dalah’s Fishbowl business about to launch in the US, the family is now planning to relocate to New York.

But, as Fowler explains, Sydney will always have a special place in her heart: “We are so central to everything here – a breath away from the hustle and bustle. Every morning we love to go for a walk down to the water, give our dogs Chilli and Diddy a play at Lyne Park and pick up a coffee. Then there’s a little cardio hit of a slight hill on the way up.”
