First, Emerald Fennell blessed us with an angel wing-wearing Jacob Elordi in Saltburn, now, the talented filmmaker is set to give us more of the Aussie heartthrob in her new film adaptation of literary classic Wuthering Heights, and he’ll be starring opposite Margot Robbie, no less.
While Fennell has remained tight lipped about the film’s direction, a first look at the hotly anticipated adaptation has offered up a tantalising taste of what’s to come.
On first viewing, the simple image posted to Warner Bros. Pictures X account on February 15 seemed innocent enough, but a closer look reveals an insight into just how, well… horny we can expect the film to be. Give her all the awards now, we say!

We’re given nothing but a close up of someone’s finger, in someone else’s mouth, but blades of grass aside, if the themes of Fennell’s previous projects are anything to go by, we’re anticipating some very steamy scenes, indeed.
We’ve also now been treated to some sneaky set photos, which give fans the first glimpse of Robbie as Catherine Earnshaw. Surfacing on X, the photos show Robbie looking somewhat solemn in a wedding gown and colourful bouquet, which as one user noted is relatively unsurprising.
An adaptation of the classic Emily Brontë romance novel, the film is also being produced by Margot’s production company, LuckyChap.
This will be the third film power duo, Emerald and Margot, will create together, having produced the aforementioned hit Saltburn as well as Promising Young Woman together previously.
Emerald first teased the film on her socials with a a graphic that read, “Be with me always – Take any form – Drive me mad,” which is a line from the novel.

What Is The Plot Of Wuthering Heights Film?
Considered one of the great literary works of our time, Emily Brontë’s 1847 novel Wuthering Heights tells the story of the Earnshaw and the Linton families, particularly the tumultuous relationship they have with the Earnshaw’s foster son, Heathcliff.
The story is famously set on the Yorkshire moors and follows the intense relationship between Catherine Earnshaw and Heathcliff, an orphan who is taken in by Catherine’s family.
An outsider and antihero, Heathcliff makes it his life’s mission to seek revenge on the people who kept him away from his one true love, Catherine. As can be imagined, the plot is largely centred on exploring the torturous love affair between the two protagonists.
The novel is widely considered to be one of the best gothic novels, and it has been adapted more than ten times between the 1930s and now.
Whether Emerald’s adaptation will remain true to its literary counterpart remains to be seen, stay tuned.
Who Is Cast In The New Wuthering Heights Film?

So far, the film’s leads have been confirmed as Jacob Elordi and Margot Robbie who have been cast as Heathcliff and Cathy.
Shortly after announcing film’s leads, three new names were added to the cast list.
Although their characters are yet to be confirmed by Fennell or the studio, Deadline has reported that Hong Chau (The Instigators) is due to play Nelly Dean, the story’s chief narrator, with Alison Oliver (Conversations With Friends, Saltburn) playing Isabella Linton, Heathcliff’s wife.
British actor Shazad Latif, known for his role opposite Lily James in What’s Love Got To Do With It?, will join the a-list ensemble as Edgar Linton, Cathy’s husband and object of Heathcliff’s ire.
In the 1998 adaption of the film, we saw Succession fave Matthew McFadyen play Hareton Earnshaw, and while we can’t imagine he’d want to reprise a role he’s already explored, we do think he’d make a stunning addition to what will surely be a big-name cast. Check back here for updates as they drop.
When Will Wuthering Heights Be Released?
A release date for Wuthering Heights has been confirmed for February 14, Valentine’s Day, of 2026. Per Deadline, the film is currently in pre-production with Emerald set to write, direct and produce the film. It is expected filming will begin with Jacob and new mum, Margot, in the UK in 2025.
With one whole year to wait until the film makes it onto our screens, why not take the time to familiarise yourself with the revered Brontë text?
