Wicked Part One has been soaring at the box office, and the internet has been in meltdown since its release. Weโve seen many unassuming boyfriends claiming it โcanโt be that goodโ before leaving in literal tears, a collective thirst (and despair from straight women everywhere) over Jonathan Bailey and an overwhelming wave of praise for, well, every single aspect of the film.
The latest news, is that part two officially has a new name. While most fans thought it would simply be Wicked: Part Two, the continuation of part one has earned a catchy, little title. Itโs Wicked: For Good. So, what does it mean?

Does Wicked Have A Post-Credit Scene?
The post-credit scene has become popular in recent years, in part thanks to Marvel, as a way for directors and producers to drop โeaster eggsโ for devoted fans.

Has Wicked Part 2 Been Filmed?
On April 27, 2022, Director Jon M. Chu revealed he would be splitting Wicked into two parts via a statement to his social media account. Chu explained that as production progressed it became clear that, to do the story justice, the film would follow the format of the musical and be divide in two.
โAs we prepared this production over the last year, it became increasingly clear that it would be impossible to wrestle the story of Wicked into a single film without doing some real damage to it,โ he said.
He went on to add: โAs we tried to cut songs or trim characters, those decisions began to feel like fatal compromises to the source material that has entertained us all for so many years. So we decided to give ourselves a bigger canvas and make not just one Wicked movie, but TWO!!!! With more space, we can tell the story of Wicked as it was meant to be told while bringing even more depth and surprise to the journeys of these beloved characters.โ
Both Wicked Part One and Part Two were filmed together, with production starting in December 2022 and officially wrapping over a year later in January 2024.
Why is Part 2 Called Wicked: For Good?
In December 2024, it was announced that Wicked part two would be called Wicked: For Good. While it may seem like a surprising choice from the outside, mega fans of the stage musical will understand the reference. โFor Goodโ is one of the final songs in the Broadway musical. Specifically, itโs the โ11 OโClock numberโ. The 11 OโClock number is the song that marks the climax of the plot or a major revelation for the main character. Traditionally, in Broadway timing, it would occur literally at 11pm.
In Wicked, โFor Goodโ is Elphaba and Glindaโs final goodbye before Elphaba surrenders to Dorothy. In a way, a continuation of โDefying Gravityโ, โFor Goodโ is the last time Elphaba and Glinda see each other.
When Is Part 2 Of Wicked Coming Out?
The release date for Wicked: For Good has already been announced and is confirmed for exactly one years time on November 21, 2025.
Wicked And The Wizard Of Oz Easter Eggs
Given Wicked in based not only on the hit Broadway musical and the 1995 novel from Gregory Maguire but also ties in to the famous tale, The Wizard Of Oz, there are plenty of easter eggs to be found in the film.
Wicked is a prequel to The Wizard Of Oz, and serves as an origin story for the wicked witch of the west. Some of the biggest easter eggs in the film pertain to this pivotal aspect.
The Ruby Slippers That Are Now Silver & Nessaroseโs Socks
You may have noticed Dorothyโs infamous ruby slippers look a little different when given to Nessarose. Thatโs because they pay homage to L. Frank Baumโs original novel, not the 1939 film, whereby the shoes were silver not red. The swirling design on the silver pair is a nod to famous twister that delivers Dorothy to Oz.
As for Nessaroseโs striped socks, theyโre clue to her fate as the wicked witch of the east, and were famously worn with the ruby slippers.
Elphaba Foreshadowโs Fiyeroโs Fate
A deviation from the play, Elphaba and Fiyero first meet in the forest, rather than with the rest of Shiz Universityโs cohort. Her initial insult, telling him to โget stuffedโ remains however, and serves as foreshadowing for Fiyeroโs fate in Part Two. Thatโs all weโll say on the matterโฆ
Boqโs Fate Is Foreshadowed
We donโt want to give much away, but Boqโs fate in Part Two is also hinted at during the first installment of Wicked. During โDancing Through Lifeโ Galinda places a handkerchief over his heart as he says he โcries a lotโ. A reference to a famously heartless Wizard Of Oz character, perhaps?
Kristin Chenoweth and Idina Menzelโs Cameos
Despite initial hesitation, Kristin Chenoweth and Idina Menzel were convinced to make a cameo in Wicked as an homage to their original roles on Broadway. Both appear during โOne Short Dayโ as performers who tell the story behind the Wizard.
