Best-selling author Colleen Hoover is getting another book-to-film adaptation and none other than icon, Anne Hathaway, is set to star in the lead role.
Following on from the success of Hoover’s last adaptation, It Ends With Us, which gained further virality due to a controversial press tour, its unsurprising another adaptation of her novels is already in the works.
Somewhat of a departure from other novels in her repertoire, Verity finds itself straddling both the romance and psychological thriller genres.

What Is Verity About?
The book is based on Verity Crawford, a famous author who, after being severely injured in a horrific car accident, is left unable to complete her successful series of thriller novels.
In lieu of Verity completing her works, the writer’s husband, Jeremy, hires a struggling author on the brink of financial ruin, Lowen Ashleigh, to help finish the series.
The novel’s synopsis reads: “Lowen arrives at the Crawford home, ready to sort through years of Verity’s notes and outlines, hoping to find enough material to get her started.
“What Lowen doesn’t expect to uncover in the chaotic office is an unfinished autobiography Verity never intended for anyone to read. Page after page of bone-chilling admissions, including Verity’s recollection of what really happened the day her daughter died.”
Initially, Lowen chooses to keep the works hidden from Jeremy, for fear of devastating the already grieving father. But, as the young writer slowly develops feelings for him, the story takes a complicated twist—one of many, we suspect.
Who Will Anne Hathaway Play In Verity?
The first cast announcement for Verity has been confirmed, and it surely hasn’t disappointed fans, with Anne Hathaway playing the book’s namesake character, Verity Crawford.
The two remaining key roles of budding yet broke author, Lowen Ashleigh, and doting husband, Jeremy Crawford, are yet to be confirmed.
Where To Watch Verity In Australia
The film is being produced by Amazon MGM, with Michael Showalter who also worked on The Idea Of You with Anne, directing. According to Variety, the film will be released in theatres, however, given it’s an Amazon production we could expect it to land on Prime Video down the track.
