The Bachelorette Australia’s contestant Jess Glasgow, who happens to be a Noosa Councillor, didn’t make a good impression while vying for Angie Kent’s heart. So bad in fact, that Noosa’s Mayor Tony Wellington has called for his resignation.

Jess, who made a slew of disgusting comments about Angie and The Bachelorette‘s female crew, was kicked off the show in last night’s episode. He also admitted to kissing “plenty of girls who have turned their heads before”.

In a statement shared this morning, Wellington denounced Glasgow’s behaviour.

“With his appearance on the reality TV show The Bachelorette, Councillor Jess Glasgow has revealed behaviour that is totally inappropriate for a Noosa councillor, indeed for any individual.

“The behaviour displayed was misogynistic, crude, and highly offensive,” he continued. “Whether or not Mr Glasgow was simply performing for the cameras, he showed incredibly poor judgement in allowing himself to be filmed lying, being extremely and consistently disrespectful of women, and outright offensive.”

Wellington confirmed he would refer Glasgow to the Office of the Independent Assessor  “as a result of his behaviour bringing the Council and community into disrepute”.

He added, “Having now viewed last night’s second episode of the program, I have spoken to Cr Glasgow and told him to seriously consider resigning from his position as Councillor on the Noosa Council.

“Whilst I do not have the legal authority to remove a sitting councillor, he has arguably brought the Council into disrepute and undermined the good reputation of our Shire.

“Put simply, there is absolutely no room for vile misogyny and loutish behaviour in Noosa or in Noosa Council.”

Be careful what you say on National TV, folks.

“I don’t need him to be online bullied, I can’t stand that,” Angie told KIIS FM’s Kyle and Jackie O this morning.

“I don’t wish him any harm or hate. Now he can learn from this, hopefully, just learn to not talk to women like that if you want to make a connection.”

She continued, “I don’t want him to lose his job, that’s not something I would want for anyone … He signed up to a reality show and I can’t control what anyone else says or does about the matter. I just stuck up for myself in that moment, that’s all I did.”
