To be honest, we never thought a Bachelor could leave us as wounded as Blake Garvey. Who, for those who don’t remember, proposed to Sam Frost in a spectacular finale only to unceremoniously dump her weeks later for fellow Bachelor co-star Louise Pillidge. Then came Nick ‘The Honey Badger’ Cummins, who in a finale shocker that had never happened in Bachelor Australia history, decided that he wasn’t ready to commit to anyone before walking off into the Fijian sunset by himself.

Well, rumour has it that Matt might follow suit. In an interview with Kyle and Jackie O on Wednesday morning, everyone’s favourite astrophysicist (or banker) gave a very telling sign he doesn’t end up with the winner of the series. Host Kyle Sandilands asked if he was planning on “pulling a Blake Garvey, where you pick one and change your mind”.
“No…what’s the…I have heard whispers of this?” Matt replied, rather cautiously. “Do you have any more details of this?”
Executive Producer Sonja added, “It’s because you said on Have You Been Paying Attention, ‘I pick a girl from the show’. You didn’t specify it’s the one from the end that you pick.”
“I like to be suitably vague,” Matt said. “I like to keep the audience guessing, it would be boring if it was too easy wouldn’t it?”
Following on from Matt’s comments is new reports that claim frontrunner Chelise McLeod is “refusing to do interviews” ahead of the finale. A Network 10 insider told New Idea: “Since the finale, everyone has heard there’s been problem after problem – they were just not seeing eye-to-eye on anything and didn’t have any chemistry. Once the cameras stopped rolling, the sparkle just wore off.”
Daily Mail is reporting they are also aware of rumours that Matt has quietly split from Chelsie and is now dating runner up Abbie.
To add more fuel to the fire, Abbie was seen boarding a plane to Perth earlier this week. Matt was already in the WA capital and had been posting regularly on the picturesque beaches.
