‘The Bachelor’s’ Locky Gilbert Asked A Woman To “Marry Him” Before Filming The Series

She's speaking out for the first time

The Bachelor Australia’s newest season might be in the midst of ongoing drama à la rose ceremonies and red-headed tantrums, but as always, the real drama is happening off-screen.

Charlie Octavia, a Perth mother-of-two, is speaking out about her and Locky’s relationship ahead of his appearance as this year’s leading man and even admitted the reality TV frontman “proposed” to her prior to heading off to film.

Speaking to Woman’s Daythe 28-year-old said: “To be as intimate as we were, then see Locky on TV trying to win the hearts of so many other women was surreal. Watching him, I could see it was all an act. He’s not looking for love on the show, more fame and attention. Locky used to tell me he loved me all the time, but I’m glad I didn’t fall for him before I found out who he really was.”

The pair, according to Octavia, dated in January, and just a month before filming for the Channel 10 dating series began he sent her a message saying “marry me,” which she shared with the publication

Locky even shared photos of himself inside the Bachelor mansion with Octavia, continuing their constant communication while the 23 hopeful contestants vied for his final rose.

“People need to know it’s not OK to toy with people’s emotions,” she said. “I feel sorry for him. I believe he’s empty and tries to fill the void with constant attention.”

Octavia also isn’t the only ex-girlfriend of Locky’s to have spoken out about his intentions for appearing on the series.

In an explosive interview with New Idea, Love Island star Jordan Cayless, who dated Locky for three years, has made it clear that she doesn’t believe that he will be settling down anytime soon, especially with anyone he meets on the show.

I don’t believe it. Obviously you have genuine feelings and you’re in a bubble on the show, but no, I don’t think he will end up married with kids with this person on The Bachelor,” she said.

Locky, who has publicly stated that he has “fallen madly in love” with his winner, may also be more interested in using the show as a career move, according to his ex.

In a warning to the winner (whoever she may be), Jordan also claimed that Locky only wanted to be the next Bachelor to boost his public profile, “I saw the ad where he says, ‘I’m the type of guy to get down on one knee’ and I thought, Yeah, you will – for the publicity and the ratings!”

And while the opinions of a scorned ex may need to be taken with a grain of salt, it doesn’t paint a great picture of our Bachelor.
