It’s hard to put your finger on what exactly is so satisfying about receiving that list of your most listened to music. Perhaps, like a horoscope or personality type, it validates a certain part of ourselves—whether that’s our commitment to Taylor Swift or the unknown artists no one else listens to.
But this data doesn’t just tell us about ourselves—it also provides an insight into the nation. With data from every Spotify user in the country, the app knows exactly what Australians are listening to—and what we’re not. So, what does this say about Australians, and our music taste?

Australia’s Most Streamed Artists
It won’t come as a surprise that the most streamed artist in Australia is Taylor Swift. Followed closely behind is Drake, The Weeknd, Ed Sheeran and US country singer, Morgan Wallen.
While you won’t find any Australian artists in the top five, Spotify has released who the most listened to local artists are. In this section, The Wiggles take the top spot, followed by The Kid LAROI, Vance Joy, Flume and AC/DC.
Australia’s Most Streamed Songs
When it comes to songs, Miley Cyrus’ Flowers was the number one streamed song in Australia. Next up was Morgan Wallen’s Last Night, SZA’s Kill Bill, PinkPantheress and Ice Spice’s Boy’s A Liar Pt.2 and Harry Style’s As It Was.
However, the most streamed local songs include Vance Joy’s Riptide, The Kid LAROI’s STAY, Dean Lewis’ How Do I Say Goodbye, The Kid LAROI’s LOVE AGAIN (Feat. Justin Bieber) and Flume’s Say Nothing (Feat. MAY-A).
Australia’s Most Streamed Albums
With Morgan Wallen’s One Thing At A Time taking the top spot, it seems like Australia has more than a few country music fans. Following Wallen is Taylor Swift’s Midnights, SZA’s SOS, Harry Style’s Harry’s House and The Weeknd’s Starboy.
Australia’s Most Streamed Podcasts
Australia’s three most streamed podcasts were all international with Joe Rogan’s The Joe Rogan Experience, Alex Cooper’s Call Her Daddy, Dr. Andrew Huberman’s health podcast, Huberman Lab taking the top spots. However, the top five also included the Australian Casefile True Crime Podcast and Aussie duo The Inspired Unemployed podcast.
When it came to genres, Australians were the biggest fans of pop, rap, rock, hip hop and dance pop. So, if your most listened to genres are outside of those top five, consider yourself and your listening tastes unique!
