His roommate all but confirmed the news

Following the success of Sophie Monk’s season of The Bachelorette, rugby star Nick Cummins is reportedly Australia’s next Bachelor.

The former Wallabies winger, nicknamed ‘The Honey Badger’, reportedly beat fan favourites Cam Cranley (Fireman Cam) and Jason Dundas, according to The Sunday Telegraph.

Cummins is notoriously known for his hilarious personality, often hijacking post-game interviews and confusing reporters.

The 30-year-old wasn’t even considered to be in the running initially, due to his five-year romance with Norwegian artist Martine Thomassen.

The pair, however, have recently ended their relationship, freeing The Honey Badger up for Australia’s taking.

“He going to be great for the franchise. Funny, witty, with a huge cult following. This is stroke of genius for the network,” a source revealed.

Following the rumours, Cummins’ roommate James spoke to radio hosts, Fitzy and Wippa, all but confirming the news.

He’s a very private dude, for him to go onto TV to go public with that kind of stuff is a big deal to him,” he said.

If you need a refresher as to why exactly Cummins is called the Honey Badger, back in a 2012 interview, the quirky sports star said that he couldn’t stop watching the creature on Animal Planet.

“I saw the honey badger, and became fascinated. It is just so aggressive and will never say die,” he said.

“One of the stories which inspired me is that it is documented that a honey badger killed a male lion in a one-on-one battle.”

Let’s hope his approach to reality TV is a little different to the rugby field.
