Pedro Pascal, Chris Evans and Dakota Johnson are starring in a romcom, together. The thought, let alone the sight, is almost too much for our hearts to bear. And yet, it is a delightful reality as their new film, Materialists, prepares to be released in cinemas.
The film, which comes from director Celine Song, who brought us the devastatingly brilliant Past Lives, has swiftly become one of the most-anticipated films of 2025.
If you’re not sold on the cast alone, we can’t relate, but all the details you need on the hotly anticipated romcom–from when and where you can watch it to the juicy plot–can be found below to convince you further.

What Is The Plot Of Materialists?
From the genius that is Celine Song, Materialists is a rom com, said to be inspired by James L Brooks’s 1980s films Broadcast News and Terms Of Endearment.
The film centres on a professional matchmaker, Lucy (played by Dakota Johnson) who finds herself torn between her new flame (played by Pedro Pascal) and her former love, John (Chris Evans).
Given her new love interest is wealthy, handsome and all-round perfect for her compared to her former beau who is a broke actor/waiter, we’re expecting a delicious if not heart wrenching (if Past Lives is any indication) love triangle to ensue.

Materialists Release Date In Australia
Sony has set an Australian release date for Materialists of June 12th, 2025 which falls in line with international audiences. The film will premiere in cinemas first, and no confirmation of a streaming release has been announced as of yet.
Is There A Trailer For Materialists?
Yes, the first official trailer for Materialists is finally here and it will give you all the feels. In it, we see Lucy described as the ultimate bachelorette as she helps a series of amusingly picky singles try to find love.
Much to our delight, there’s also plenty of insight into her chemistry with both on-screen love interests, Pascal and Evans. Watch the clip below.
