Just weeks into season 12 of Married At First Sight a cheating scandal between Adrian Araouzou and Sierah Swepstone sent the experiment into chaos. And now, with the MAFS’ reunion upon us, what went on between the pair, particularly the newly leaked texts, may make for hot dinner party conversation once again.
So what led to the rumoured cheating scandal and where are the couples at now? Let’s unpack.
Adrian & Sierah’s Footsie Moment
During a dinner party, it’s believed the camera picked up on a very fleeting, very subtle physical exchange between Sierah and Adrian. In what was being dubbed the ‘footsie scandal’, it appeared that the pair, who were sat next to one another at the table, were brushing feet. An intimate careers of two forbidden lovers? Or an accidental brush unavoidable due to proximity?
Adrian argues the latter. Speaking to 9Entertainment, he brushed the incident off, saying, “If touching feet is cheating then I definitely would have cheated on Awhina [Rutene] with Ryan [Donnelly], Jacqui [Burfoot], Jeff [Gobbels] and Rhi [Disljenkovic] because they were sitting across from me – and Tony [Mojanovski] at one point.”
“If you’re sitting at a table and you stretch your legs you end up accidentally touching people’s feet. For me watching that back, I was so unaware that her feet even bumped my feet,” he added.
Adrian & Sierah Cheating Allegations Off Camera
Rumours of cheating go a little deeper than mere footsies, that is, if DailyMail is to be believed. According to the publication, show insiders confirmed “the pair formed an ‘unexpected bond’ after a night out during their first weekend in Sydney.”
It goes on to reveal, “Sierah and Adrian ended up back at her apartment, where they stayed up late getting to know each other.
“Days later, they reunited for an intimate dinner date – one that was concealed from both Billy and Awhina.”
A fellow MAFS cast member also spoke to the publication, revealing Billy learned that his wife had confided in Adrian secretly during a commitment ceremony.
“Sierah wouldn’t open up to him, but she did with Adrian. And he only found out in front of the rest of us. It was so embarrassing. I felt terrible for him,” they said.
Billy himself also broke his silence on the ordeal.
“I had no idea that happened,” Billy told TV WEEK. “I did, however, know there was something going on between them. Awhina and I weren’t happy. We signed up to be with our partners and when we watched them getting closer, it wasn’t nice. It was very difficult to watch. I felt a bit sad.”
Viewers did see the confrontation play out on air, the end result of which eventually saw Billy and Sierah call it quits, while Adrian and Awhina went on to stay together until final vows.
MAFS’ Adrian And Sierah’s Text Messages
The MAFS reunion could see Sierah and Awhina clash after a text messages from the bride to Adrian were leaked ahead of the final two episodes.
According to the DailyMail, Sierah allegedly tried to convince producers to allow her to return to the experiment with Adrian ‘as a couple’, after her split from Billy. The publication also then claims that the bride reached out to Adrian via text ahead of the reunion, concerned her messages asking to return would be exposed.
The alleged text messages read: “Hey, just wanted to touch base and see if you’d told anyone about me saying to production about us going back together so I can prepare myself for being attacked and ganged up on again at the reunion because of you throwing me under the bus.”
Sierah went on to unleash at Adrian for “dogging” her, adding: “Biggest regret was having anything to do with you because look at how I was treated for it and you came away unscathed. I hate you and I hate her.”
