UPDATE: We have a release date! Game of Thrones season 7 will air in the US summer next year (or the Australian winter), so June 2017. There will be seven episodes in this season.
As if the wait between seasons wasn’t already long enough, there’s been sad news for Game of Thrones fans desperately counting down the days to Season 7.
The hit show, which usually hits screens in April, are having to revise that date, but it’s for a pretty legitimate reason, we suppose.
“We don’t have an air date yet, but this year will probably be a little bit later,” showrunners David Benioff and Dan Weiss revealed on the UFC Unfiltered podcast.
“We’re starting a bit later because at the end of this season, ‘Winter is here’—and that means that sunny weather doesn’t really serve our purposes any more.
“So we kind of pushed everything down the line, so we could get some grim grey weather even in the sunnier places that we shoot.”
Well we can’t rally argue with the weather we guess, but this just feels like another blow after we just learned that there are only two seasons – and 13 episodes – left.
