Game of Thrones season eight has left us with several plot twists so far (Dany anyone?), but despite there only being one episode left there is still plenty of time to speculate how the fate of the Seven Kingdoms will turn out.
As fans know well, Daenerys’ husband Khal Drogo did not survive the first season, and he lives on only in memories. Or does he? That’s the latest fan theory gaining traction online.
When Jon Snow and Daenerys took the dragons to one of the mountains above Winterfell, Dany’s dragon Drogon, named after Khal Drogo, was clearly distressed by the couple’s intimacy. Many thought at the time Drogon knew that the two were in fact, related, but it could be down to another reason.

The fan theory in question recalls a crucial moment from season two, which may spell the death of Daenerys Targaryen.
Reddit user Bronn of The Blackwater, arguably the best moniker across the entire internet, wrote: “I’m currently doing a re-watch, and I just finished watching S02E10. I just realised that Daenarys’ vision might be a big foreshadow.
“In her vision, Dany sees the Iron Throne, she reached for it but then decided to go North of the wall and found Khal Drogo with her son. I think the first part already happened: Dany had the opportunity to seized the throne, by fighting Cersei, but decided to go North instead to help Jon Snow fight the Night King. So, maybe the second part of the vision will happen in season 8 and Daenerys will joined Drogo and her son by dying because she decided to go North.”

It’s important to note that Jason Momoa, who played Drogo, has denied his return on more than one occasion. “I just showed up to see [the producers] and I just happened to see people on set,” Momoa explained to Entertainment Weekly. “I haven’t been over there in a long time. You just want to see your friends and you end up making headlines going, ‘Drogo’s back!’ and I’m like, ‘He’s dead! He can’t come back, it wouldn’t work.'”
He did spill the beans on how the series will end though.
“It’s going to be the greatest thing that’s ever aired on TV,” he promised. “It’s going to be unbelievable. It’s going to f*ck up a lot of people.
“And it was a bummer because I’m a huge fan and I didn’t want to know what’s going on. I was like, ‘Damn, I didn’t want to know that!'”
