Actor Daniel Portman Said ‘Game of Thrones’ Fans Keep Groping Him

Who could forget ~that~ little detail about Podrick

We’ve now been watching Game of Thrones for close to a decade. For 10 years we’ve gotten to know, love and hate the characters of the Seven Kingdoms, often confusing those that play them for the real deal.

Daniel Portman, who plays Brienne of Tarth’s squire Podrick Payne, just opened up about how his life has changed since being cast on the show, and sadly, it involves fans who aren’t respecting his boundaries.

For those not familiar with Podrick’s storyline, or just can’t remember, the squire becomes known as a “sex god” because he once slept with three prostitutes who refused his payment because he was so good in bed. That reputation, according to Daniel, has followed him off screen.

In an interview with Esquire, Daniel said there have been several times when women have come up to him and grabbed him because they think he and his character are the same person.

“I’ve been grabbed by so many…like the amount of like older, older women who are very…” He then made a grabbing hand gesture while explaining this to show how these people cross the line.

Daniel went on to say that he doesn’t know how to react when this happens, adding “What can you do? You know? Obviously, tell them not to do it.”

Obviously, it’s never appropriate to invade the personal space of those that play our favourite characters.

Luckily, Daniel was also able to see the funny side in this whole situation by comparing his reputation to Theon Greyjoy (played by Alfie Allen), who had his penis cut off.

He said, “It’s really not a bad thing, to be tied to your character. Some guy had his dick cut off. Then you’ve got a guy who’s meant to be this fucking stallion, out of nowhere.”
