After days of speculation, Channel Ten has finally confirmed that Nick Cummins, AKA ‘The Honey Badger’, will be gracing our screens in July as Australia’s newest Bachelor.
20 eligible women will soon be vying for his affections but what is it that this year’s Bachie is looking for in a potential partner?
The 30-year-old is best known as a professional Australian rugby union player, who has had a highly successful career. Cummins used to play in the Australian Wallabies team as the position of a winger as well as in the Australians Sevens. Yes, he’s a big deal in the sporting world. But that’s not all: Adding to his already impressive resume, Cummins has some modelling under his belt, as well as advertisements with Tradie Underwear & Workwear as well as Beef Australia.
As far as love goes, the 30-year-old was previously in a five-year relationship with Norwegian artist Martine Thomassen before they ended their relationship 18 months ago. The Aussie star is excited about prospect of finding love as he is “really looking forward to throwing everything at this opportunity” to find the one.
“The past 10 or so years has been on the road playing rugby or working on my projects, so I’m very excited to be part of a show that is centred around love and good times,” Cummins said in a statement.
So for those who are interested in wooing the loveable larrikin, Nick also told The Project he doesn’t have ‘a type’ and prefers “good vibes” over good looks. “You can talk about hair colour and things like that – and that’s all good for the eye, but it doesn’t really last,” he said, adding: “And you’ve got to go off vibes I reckon, mate.”
Following Channel Ten’s announcement that Cummins will star in the upcoming series, The Project asked Cummins about his love life to which his responses were a little surprising and somewhat philosophical.
“They say you get three loves in life. My first one, you know, probably cuts pretty deep. You’re not really sure if it’s infatuation or not. And the second one — you know, it may be love. But maybe you don’t understand, ‘cause you’re still young and inexperienced at the timings and both your lives haven’t really hit the right connection, the right point,” he said. “So, I suppose the third one — which — who knows, I could actually find — could be this one, where I’ve realised it’s not infatuation, the timings of both of our lives have come to this point, and now we’ve connected and, hopefully, pressed forward into a happy future.”
So there you have it, ladies. Now, where can we find those application papers?
