Popular podcast, Dying For Sex, has been adapted for television in a new mini series of the same name that will instantly hit you in the heartstrings.
Starring Michelle Williams and Jenny Slate, who you may recognise from It Ends With Us, the show tells the story of Molly, a woman who leaves her marriage of 15-years to embark on a “sex quest” after a shock cancer diagnosis.
Exploring themes of friendship, mortality and of course, female sexuality, the limited series is hitting our screens very, very soon. So, here’s what you need to know about the show.
What Is The Plot Of Dying For Sex?
When Molly (played by Williams) receives a stage IV metastatic breast cancer diagnosis, she decides to leave her unhappy marriage to husband Steve (played by Jay Duplass) to explore her sexual desires.
Supported by her best friend, Nikki (played by Slate), she embarks on a fearless journey of sexual self discovery complete with vibrators, butt-pics and new experiences.

Is Dying For Sex Based On A True Story?
Yes, Dying For Sex is based on the true story of Molly Kochan who started the podcast series of the same name to document her story.
When Molly received a terminal cancer diagnosis in 2015 she embarked “on a series of sexual adventures to help her feel alive” all of which she discusses in the six-part podcast with her best friend, Nikki.
The idea for the podcast itself, which documents and dissects nearly 200 of her hookups, came in 2018 when the friends met for lunch following two dates Molly had been on that morning.
The podcast synopsis reads: “As they peel back the layers, we learn that Molly isn’t just grappling with breast cancer: she’s also dealing with some trauma from her past. Along the journey, the friends explore bigger themes that affect us all — like healing, forgiveness and what do we do with the time we have left.”
What Happened To Molly From Dying For Sex?
Sadly, Molly passed away in 2019. One year later, in February 2020, her podcast Dying For Sex, was released and quickly amassed millions of downloads.
Since her passing and release of the podcast, Molly’s memoir, Screw Cancer: Becoming Whole, was also released, with Kochan delving even deeper into her life, sex and health experiences.
