You'd be surprised

Season 2 of Bachelor In Paradise Australia is upon us. If you’ve happened to catch any of the pre-released promos for the upcoming season on Channel 10’s social media, you’ll know that former Australian Bachelor couple Richie Strahan and Alex Nation are to face off, while Alex also shares a sneaky kiss with Nick Cummins’ ex Brooke Blurton. Others hoping to find love on the reality tv franchise are Cat Hennesy, Bill Goldsmith, Cassandra Wood and American intruder Alex Bordyukov from Rachel Lindsay’s season of the American series.

But, while we eagerly wait for The Bachelor and The Bachelorette alum to take centre stage in Fiji, we thought it best we reminisce on the couples that were – and namely, those that have stood the test of time.

Keira Maguire and Jarrod Woodgate

Paradise couple Keira and Jarrod have enjoyed an on-off relationship since finishing the show together last year. The pair were one of BIP’s most unlikely pairings, (to be honest it’s hard to imagine Jarrod ever getting over being dumped by Sophie Monk on The Bachelorette) and became inseparable post-show, regularly posting cute couple photos non-stop on each other’s Instagram accounts. But in August, the pair suddenly split with Jarrod reportedly dumping Keira via text.

“I’m sorry if anyone is disappointed or I have let anyone down,” a heartbroken Keira wrote on Instagram at the time, adding, “Please respect our privacy as this is a very hard time for me”. Jarrod went on to explain that it was Keira’s social media obsession that left him unhappy in their relationship. “Her Instagram following is overwhelming and it was taking over our relationship,” he told NW at the time. But just after New Year’s Eve, Keira revealed in a gushy Instagram post that the pair were back on! Keira has even permanently made the move to Melbourne, where Jarrod’s family own a vineyard.

Megan Marx and Jake Ellis

Megan and Jake are another on-and-off again couple who first found love on Bachelor in Paradise last year. The couple dated for several months before calling it quits in August. But last November, Jake won Megan’s heart back after writing her a series of love letters in a grand romantic gesture. While she admitted their relationship wasn’t perfect, she said Jake “fought relentlessly for me, and has taken time to know me, and love me.” But, alas they were not meant to be. The couple split at the beginning of 2019.

The “heartbroken” 30-year-old said she’s glad she and Jake gave it a shot, but she’s ready to be single. “I’m really glad that we tried again, just to make sure, but when it doesn’t work out…And I’ve never done this before. If it doesn’t work out, it’s over,” Meghan told the Daily Mail. The two continue to call each other their “best friend”.

Tara Pavlovic and Sam Cochrane

The 2018 Bachelor In Paradise finale ended with Sam getting on one knee and proposing to Tara, but just a few months later the couple decided to end their engagement. The couple announced their split in June last year and the circumstances around their relationship became very messy in the media, with both claiming the other was “abusive”. Tara has now found her happy ending with new partner Nick Shepherdson.

Ali Oetjen and Grant Kemp

Ali and Grant were one of last season’s golden couples, with Ali even relocating to Los Angeles with American-intruder Grant following the show. However, things didn’t end well breaking up shortly after Ali’s move. The blonde beauty went on to become Australia’s 2018 Bachelorette, falling in love with Taite Radley.

Lisa Hyde And Luke McLeod

Lisa and Luke were so loved up on the series and even left earlier so they could focus on their relationship in the real world. But, it would all come crumbling down when reports claimed Luke was cheating on Lisa with a 19-year-old woman. “Unfortunately the trust was lost, and I respect myself a little bit too much to let somebody walk all over me like that, so we separated. I think mistakes happen, people have to live with those consequences and Luke is responsible for his actions,” Lisa told Now To Love.

In January the 32-year-old announced she is expecting her first child with new partner Damon Collina.
