Mere hours after they left Bachelor in Paradise to focus on their budding relationship in the real world, Apollo and Simone confirmed the bad news: they’ve broken up. We had Apollo on the phone this morning to find out just what happened to the pair post-Paradise, and how Apollo feels about reality TV now…
You and Simone left Paradise together just days out from the finale. Why?
The last two days, we were looking round, everyone’s saying I love you, making out everywhere, for us everyone was on a different level and we knew the next step was the commitment ceremony, and we thought, with the amount of drama, the heightened emotion, maybe it’s best we take this to the outside world.
How long did you stay together after you left the show?
We were probably trying for just over a month. Her being based in Melbourne and me in Gold Coast and spending a lot of time in Sydney, it was so hard to align our schedules. Unfortunately nothing romantic evolved. But there was nothing negative about the way it turned out at all.
Are you currently single?
Yeah, I am.
Did you get what you wanted out of Paradise?
I gave it a good go. I was nervous coming in late, and going straight into a love triangle was pretty crazy. It was an intense experience. But I don’t regret it, it was great to take time out and focus on dating and getting to know someone.
Do you have any regrets going on the show?
When the show came on, everyone was touching base, seeing how everyone was feeling. It can be a pretty daunting thing seeing yourself on TV with all these raw emotions on show.
Would you go on another reality dating show?
I think I’ll have a rest now. At the moment my priority is focusing on my career and family.
